“Grow in Faith, Hope, and Love by Meditating on the Gospel – Past, Present, and Future” is another guest post for the blog of my friend, Chris Castaldo (Chris is suffering for the Lord on a ministry trip to Hawaii).
Chris is the author of Holy Ground: Walking with Jesus as a Former Catholic.
I’ll share with you my favorite Catholic/Protestant joke that Chris tells:
A priest and a pastor were at the race track. As they watched the horses getting ready for next a race, a jockey walked his horse to the stands and waved the priest down. The pastor watched intently as the priest waved his hand and said a prayer. “He is blessing that horse,” thought the pastor, “That’s the one I’ll putt my money on!” The pastor and the priest arrived back to their seats just in time for the race to start.
As the horses took the first turn, the horse that the pastor had bet on dropped dead in the middle of the course!
The pastor turned to the priest and exclaimed, “I put all my money on that horse because you blessed it, and it kicked the bucket in the middle of the race!”
The priest replied, “That’s the problem with you protestants. You can’t tell the difference between a blessing and last rites.”
While you’re clicking around, you may want to check out Chris’s recent article, “Dating Across the Catholic/Protestant Divide”. This issue will continue to grow among the collegians in our congregations.
