I’m excited to let you know that today marks the release of Gospel-Centered Youth Ministry: A Practical Guide, edited by Cameron Cole and Jon Nielson. Cameron is the director of youth ministries at Cathedral Church of the Advent in Birmingham, AL and the chairman of Rooted Ministry, which seeks to advance grace-driven youth ministry and to equip youth workers theologically. Jon and I served as youth pastors together at College Church in Wheaton, IL, he as the high school and then college pastor, and I as junior high pastor. Now he is the Christian Union Ministry Director at Princeton University.
Pretty much every aspect of youth ministry is addressed in this book, and each is considered from a gospel-centered perspective: building community, singing, retreats and events (yes, even retreats and events!), partnering with parents, training students in Bible study and leadership, missions trips and service projects, and more. I had the privilege of being a part of this project, contributing the chapter “The Impact of Expounding God’s Word: Expositional Teaching in Youth Ministry”.
The book is currently the #1 new release at Amazon in the category of Youth Christian Ministry. You can pick up a copy for you, or as a gift for your youth pastor, right here.
